Accessibility statement

The isle of Wight Association of Local Councils (IWALC) is made up of representatives of parish councils. All members are unpaid volunteers. There are no full time staff and limited finances. Design and maintenance of this website is undertaken by a volunteer.

Many of the documents on the site are produced by outside bodies over which IWALC does not exercise any form of supervision or control.

Nevertheless all reasonable steps have been take to ensure that the pages compiled by or on behalf of IWALC comply with the WCAG accessibility standard. (checked with online resources such as the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool at and AChecker at )

-All pages have distinct and readable text in sans serif font
-All Pictures, including icons, have alternative text explanations
-Pages are compiled so that objects and text have high contrast definition.
-Pages can be enlarged to 300% without bleeding from the screen, Items stay within their background containers.
-Recent PDF documents produced by IWALC comply, as far as possible with ISO 19005-1 (the PDF/A standard) where such editing is possible. (checked online with the at the Tingtun checker] )
